Pre-BIM electrical design · Invite-only beta

Mission-critical power design, before the model.

MissionLine OS is a pre-BIM design tool for data-center electrical systems. Change a load and every upstream feeder, bus, and source updates. Feeder sizing, voltage drop, N-1 source outages, and generator step-load are checked as you go.

Invite-only beta for practicing electrical engineers, MEP firms and data-center developers. Tell us about a current or upcoming project.

Early-stage numbers you can trace.

Every result names its method and the code section it came from.

Live load roll-up

Enter kW, voltage, phase, and power factor at the load. Line current updates at every upstream feeder, bus, and source as you edit.

Feeder sizing, cited to your NEC edition

Required conductor size from Table 310.16 with ambient correction, conductor-count adjustment, and 110.14(C) termination limits. Undersized wire is flagged, and your specified size is never overwritten.

N-1 source contingency

Removes each source in turn, closes auto ties to dead buses, and checks every feeder on its worst case.

Generator step-load screening

Estimate transient voltage dip for each load step and check running load against the online generator rating. Screening estimate; confirm with manufacturer data.

Model N, N+1, 2N, and block-redundant topologies with utility, generator, ATS, tie, UPS, switchboard, PDU, busway, and rack elements.

65 kA → specify 100 kA

point-to-point method

65 kA gear looks fine at 60 kA. Use the transformer's impedance tolerance and parallel the generator, and it's 88 kA. Specify 100 kA.

Gen dip 16% → under 5% staged

X·S/(1+X·S) screening model

All at once: ~16% dip. Staged walk-in: under 5%. Sequence matters. Screening estimate; confirm with manufacturer data and the UPS input voltage window.

Lose Utility A: tie closes

N-1 source contingency

MV-A dies, the tie closes on the dead bus, and Utility B carries the facility inside its service capacity.

Lose block 3: catcher picks up

N-1 source contingency

The block source is lost, the UPS input swings to the catcher, and the UPS rides through on battery. The catcher covers one block at a time.

Voltage drop ≈ 1.3%

Chapter 9 Table 9 effective-impedance method

Board to busway is about 1.3% on the cable only. UPS input breaker in this example: 3,000 A, 100%-rated.

Static bypass passes upstream fault current. Size downstream ratings for the bypass path, not the inverter. On generator, with recharge limited, this example block is about 88% of 2,500 kWe.
